Well, we all do I suppose. Few of us know in advance when we may need a hospital bed, except if we are giving birth. Few of us really want to be cared for by a doctor and nurse who have been on their feet for 20 hours or more. People are actually being killed in our hospitals instead of being healed due to overcrowding and over-working. Every Australian is entitled to believe our National Anthem, Advance Australia Fair. Yet a fair go with hospital care seems to be disappearing, not advancing. Two mothers only got hospital care for their adult daughters by sending Votergrams to politicians for help. A manufacturer only got a back operation for his factory foreman by sending a Votergram to MPs for help. One Sydney Mum only got respite care for her son by sending a Votergram for help too.

Understanding Democracy

What have we Aussies failed to understand about this fabulous system of government called Democracy? It is that not only does democracy give us the opportunity to tell our government what we want it to do for us. More, it actually requires us to tell the MPs, or someone else will come in and start directing government to look after them first. That someone is likely to be the Big Business Billionaires who head our public corporations. They pay ex-politicians to lobby on their behalf. What they want is more billions for themselves. Do you ever wonder that some corporate CEOs earn more in a month than our Prime Minister earns in a year?

Success is not a luxury

Sending Votergrams to every MP is not a luxury. It is essential, if we want government to treat us fairly. It is not the fault of the pollies alone that we are treated badly. We elect them to be our representatives and then don’t tell them how we would like to be represented. That is our fault. Then they look after someone else who does tell them.
